Switch components: Mini slide switches, illuminated tactile switches
C&K Components miniature slide switches and E-Switch illuminated right-angle tact switch with through-hole termination and blue, red, green, and yellow LEDs can help embedded device design.
Newton MA, and Minneapolis, MN – Electronic and embedded device designers and panel builders may have an easier time with introduction of C&K Components miniature slide switches and with an E-Switch illuminated right-angle tact switch with through-hole termination and blue, red, green, and yellow LEDs.
C&K Components miniature slide switches are just 1.5 mm high.
RoHS-compliant, process compatible switches offered in multiple configurations:allows some devices to sit less than 0.7 mm high. Mounting options are said to make the slide switches ideal for applications such as remote control equipment, instrumentation, test and measurement equipment, computer peripherals, and mobile telecommunications.
The switches are available with one or two poles, feature double- and triple-throw action, and offset or side actuation. Contact resistance is less than 80 milliOhms with life cycles to 10,000 operations.
The sub-miniature JS Series slide switches feature a profile down to 0.7mm, positive detents, high contact reliability and right or center actuation, and can be surface or through-hole mounted. Available in SPDT, DPDT and DP3T models, the switches have IR reflows to 260° solder profile, contact rating of 6 V dc @ 3 A and life cycles to 5,000 operations.
Similar to the JS Series slide switches, the JSM Series switches also feature positive detents, IR reflow to 260° solder profile, and can be surface or through-hole mounted. The JSM switches are offered in SPDT, SP3T models and feature maintained and momentary functions. Contact rating is 4 V dc @ 0.3 A, with lifespan to 10,000 cycles.
The PCM Series ultra miniature surface mount slide switches are available in SPDT and SP3T models. Contact rating is 6 V dc @ 0.3 A, with a mechanical life to 50,000 cycles. The switches are available in tape and reel packaging.
Pricing for the JSM Series slide switches ranges from $0.60 to $0.70. The switches are offered in 1,800-piece reels.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
