The Dept. of Energy has released a super hero in the form of a boiler. The boiler, which just reached its 1-year anniversary of operation, can deliver 94% thermal efficiency, producing fewer emissions than conventional boilers.

Over the next 13 years, the technology could save more than 185 trillion Btus, equivalent to the natural gas consumed by more than 2 million households.

The United States’ industrial sector accounts for about one-third of the nation’s energy use, and the new Super Boiler represents a boost in energy savings.
