Problem: Lubricating oil is leaking from a machine. It is difficult to see where the leak is originating. What can be done to find the leak?
Solution: Clean the machine of all residual oil. Use a fluorescent black light to illuminate the area. The oil will glow purple and the leak can then be easily found.
Problem: Flat head, socket head cap screws can be difficult to remove. Is there a way to remove them without stripping threads or rounding out the socket hole?
Solution: Use a combination of a center punch, allen wrench, and hammer. While applying torque with the wrench, strike the head of the screw with the center punch and hammer to free the screw.
Problem: Safely discarding oil-soaked rags, if there is no dedicated container, can be a problem. How can these rags be discarded without causing a problem?
Solution: Put the rags in a closeable plastic bag. Fill the bag with enough water to thoroughly soak the rags. Close the bag and safely discard the rags.

There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.
But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
