Software and Computers

Design and simulation software

Automation Studio V4.0 is a circuit design, simulation, and project documentation software package that supports hydraulics, mobile hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, PLC controls, fluid power, and automation applications. By dragging and dropping symbols from an extensive library, users can quickly create complex projects that show system behavior by means of realistic dynamic simulation. Famic Technologies, Inc. Critical parts identification

EPIC is computer cataloging software that allows users to digitally map plant equipment and specific critical parts within that equipment. Users also can catalog part photos, detail data, warranty information, CAD drawings, schematics, and video files. The system stores information for a single plant, or across multiple locations. Custom interface modules are available for linking to preventive maintenance software. Benefits include accurate parts identification, elimination of the need to search for parts on blueprints or in manuals, identification of part bin numbers and storeroom locations, parts standardization, and warranty tracking. Arc flash safety online

Arc Flash Calculator is an online program that can be accessed by connecting to , selecting "Electrical Safety" from the navigation bar on the left, and choosing "Arc Flash Calculator." The calculator is based on the IEEE 1584 "Guide for performing arc flash calculations." The program outputs the incident energy level and flash protection boundary required for the flash hazard analysis under specific conditions. Necessary inputs are the 3-phase bolted short-circuit current available and the overcurrent protective device ampere rating. Cooper Bussmann Write 314 on PE card

Ethernet communications

SNMP-OPC Gateway software suite consists of two software products with specific capabilities and applications — FL SNMP OPC server and agent. The server software connects OPC-based HMI/SCADA solutions to intelligent Ethernet devices. SNMP data originating from an intelligent Ethernet device is formatted to the OPC standard. The agent software connects IT network management systems to OPC-based automation systems. OPC data originating from an industrial automation system or component is formatted as an SNMP packet. Annual Salary Survey

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September. There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.

But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
