Smart service: Syclo teams with SAP for mobile asset and service management solutions

A new partnership gives manufacturer maintenance and service technicians remote access to the SAP Business Suite and Syclo’s package of field service and enterprise asset management solutions.

Mobile platforms specialist Syclo reports an agreement focused on applications that enable maintenance and service technicians to access to SAP Business Suite
Syclo will extend the power of SAP Business Suite with the Syclo SMART Mobile Suite, a family of “Powered by SAP NetWeaver” applications for work order execution, operator rounds, time/attendance tracking, and materials management.

An extended partnership with Syclo is the third major step in SAP’s mission to co-innovate with industry-leading mobility providers.

According to Dieter Hässlein, an SAP VP for EAM, Sustainability and Mobile, “Syclo was a natural fit for our business because it is a recognized leader with proven mobile solutions for asset management and field service, tightly integrated to SAP Business Suite, and in use today by our customers.”
Terasen Gas , a Vancouver-based gas distribution utility, uses the Syclo solution integrated with various SAP applications to produce work orders and submit timesheets and payroll reports; as well as establish two-way, real-time updates on equipment status between field technicians and corporate headquarters.
“Syclo’s mobile applications allowed us to consolidate multiple mobile point solutions into just one platform, which will significantly lower our total cost of ownership, says David Legge, director of information technologies at Terasen Gas. “We can now provide our field technicians real-time access to historical and pending work on the assets, which in turn allows us to manage our field workforce activities much more effectively.”
