Series of emergency management seminars
NOTIFIER by Honeywell's emergency management series are focused on educating essential design and planning concepts for life safety and emergency communication systems.
NOTIFIER by Honeywell has announced a series of free Emergency Management Seminars to educate on essential design and planning concepts for life safety and emergency communications systems (ECS), and the most significant codes, standards and legislation. Intended for facility owners, security directors, architects/engineers and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), the half-day seminars will provide lunch and a certificate worth four Continuing Professional Development credits.
Consulting Engineer and NFPA Technical Committees Member Jack Poole P.E. will demonstrate how to perform a thorough facility risk analysis and its impact on the design of an ECS. Poole will also explain the effects of UL 2572 Standard for Control and Communication Units for Mass Notifications Systems and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act on ECS requirements and design specifications. Special guest, former Commissioner of the New York City Fire Department, Thomas Von Essen will join technical experts from NOTIFIER to discuss real-world fire alarm and ECS applications, along with the latest legislation requirements for carbon monoxide detection and alerts. NOTIFIER's Emergency Management Seminars will run March to end of May.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
