If you were looking for wireless solutions at Sensors Expo and Conference, held June 11-13 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, you didn’t have to look far. While the show featured numerous sensor products and related components, wireless technology and mesh networks were available at every turn.Cirronet introduced its miniMESH DM1810 and the VersaMESH DM2200 wireless sensor network modules, which have the ability to sleep the entire network and their active current consumption, even when transmitting at 10mW of RF power. Achieving ranges of up to 600 meters/hop, both modules provide self-healing wireless mesh networks that support mobile nodes over large coverage areas.Nivis had on display a couple of applications for its mesh network product, which includes a wireless LAN, technology for the transportation of data and a central database for data storage and analysis. The database alerts users of problems based on its data analysis.Sensors Expo featured nearly 200 exhibitors, and more than 3,500 visitors attended. Steve Squyres, the principal investigator for the science payload on the Mars Exploration Rover Project, and Gregory W. Withee, senior advisor to the office of the administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration gave keynote addresses.Next year’s Sensors Expo and Conference is scheduled for June 9-11 and will also be held at the Stephens Convention Center.Edited by Kevin Campbell
