They are made from photosensitive anodized aluminum with the text and color sealed within the anodic layer, which allows them to be used in extreme conditions. SIS-TAGs are available in silver and black colors for conditions such as heat, humidity, UV exposure, salt spray, abrasion, industrial solvents, and chemicals. They are also available in yellow and black for maximum visibility in conditions such as salt spray, abrasion, industrial solvents, and chemicals. SIS-TAGs can also have specific data fields for custom texts or with a user-defined bar code on the reverse side.

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
