UK-based IMS Research reports that unit shipments of DIN-rail PCs with incorporated I/O are expected to more than triple between 2006 and 2011 and will create a lasting impact on the worldwide industrial PC market.

According to the report The Worldwide Market for Industrial PCs (2008 edition), the number of suppliers offering such products is expected to increase significantly in the near future.

Users in Europe, Middle East and Asia, in particular, have shown confidence in the relatively new bundled solution: Sales there are projected to represent more than 60% of revenues and shipments between now and 2011.

Report author Mark Watson, market research analyst for Industrial Automationflexibility and functionality that they offer, it is no surprise that shipments are projected to have an annual growth rate of over 20% between 2006 and 2011.”

Targeting control applications, DIN-rail PCs with I/O are expected to replace other automation control solutions such as PLCs.
