David A. Vise, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter at the Washington Post and author of the book, “The Google Story,” will present the keynote speech at the 2006 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress, Tuesday, Nov. 7 at the Chicago Hilton. The speech will focus on the essential factors that drive innovation in successful business.

Vise will present as a case study the Washington Post, which has maximized its use of Google’s search engine capabilities to enhance its news-gathering and publishing operations.

Vise has covered the FBI and the Justice Department, among other beats, for the Washington Post since joining the newspaper in the 1980s. In addition to The Google Story, Vice is the author of “The Bureau and the Mole,” which appeared on The New York Times bestsellers list, and “Eagle on the Street.”

The latter was based on the Washington Post series, “The Man from Wall Street: John Shad’s Reign at the SEC,” which won the 1990 Pulitzer Prize.
