Also honored was NACCO Material Handling, the 2011 Plant Engineering Top Plant recipient, and the winners of the 2011 Engineer’s Choice awards, presented annually by Control Engineering.
ePac, developed by ePAC Software Technologies, East Greenwich, R.I., received the 2011 Plant Engineering Grand Award, presented to the product which receives the most votes in all categories from Plant Engineering readers. The software features a Maintenance Performance Index, an exclusive feature of EAM/CMMS that enables each organization to prioritize its maintenance metrics consistent with its goals and objectives. The index is comprised of general performance categories such as reliability, workforce productivity, materials management, customer service, and financial performance.
“The use of software on the plant floor is on the rise, and the importance of proper maintenance strategies is always a crucial issue for our readers,” said Plant Engineering content manager Bob Vavra. “It speaks to the importance of these two issues to our readers that ePac would receive the Grand Award in 2011.”
The awards dinner capped a day of knowledge and information for the more than 100 attendees at the 2012 Engineering Awards in Manufacturing dinner. CFE Media conducted an afternoon session for marketing and product managers on the most effective ways to market to the manufacturing community. The sessions featured industry experts from around the country who discussed the changing manufacturing landscape and the need to deliver a wider array of solutions to plant managers through a variety of mediums, including online and social media.
