Product Exclusive: Ethernet 2.0 controller; SD card adds 8 GB
Get up to 1000 instructions in 235μ for industrial Ethernet applications in the Wago Corp. 750-880 Ethernet 2.0 Programmable Fieldbus Controller, with 1 MB data memory and an SD port allowing up to 8 GB of extra memory.
Wago Corp.’s 750-880 “Ethernet 2.0” Programmable Fieldbus Controller (PFC) packs 1 MB data memory and an SD port for up to 8 GB of extra memory. Third in Wago’s all-new “Ethernet 2.0” platform, 750-880 increases intelligence and high-frequency processing, up to 1000 instructions within 235μ, for industrial Ethernet applications.
Via SD card, the controller simplifies programming and increases capabilities. The removable card transfers device parameters, boot files, or other file types from one controller to another, expediting large-scale programming. Ideal for data logging, 750-880 provides 1 MB of program and data memory, along with up to 8 GB of supplemental memory from the SD card. Accessible via FTP, the card also functions as an additional drive or data backup.
The controller has new function libraries and upgraded 2 MB Fast File System with integrated Web server. The server provides PFC configuration options, status information, and web pages. A multitasking PFC, 750-880 relies on a robust, industry-approved TCP/IP stack and IEC 61131-3 compatible environment. Protocols include Modbus, HTTP, EtherNet/IP BootP, DHCP, DNS, SNTP, FTP, and SNMP. It has been tested for network security and has a regulating filter for protection against high network loading.
IT Meets PLC: 750-880 features two Ethernet interfaces and an integrated switch, blending PLC-like functionality with IT networking flexibility. Via line topology, the switch eliminates redundant components, such as switches and hubs. An onboard DIP switch configures the last octet of IP address/assignment. The slotted, IP20 housing optimizes cooling, and an extended-temperature model is rated -20 °C to +60 °C. 750-880 carries UL 508 and meets stringent EMV requirements.
Gold Card: 750-880’s optional SD card is fortified with gold plating for harsh industrial applications. Relying on SLC technology (Single-Level-Cell), Wago’s SD card will last approximately 10 times longer than MLC (Multi-Level-Cell) cards. The card also features Power-Loss Protection, ESD stability up to 15 kV, and a -20 °C to +60 °C temperature rating.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
