POY Finalist: Curtain wall
Finalist in Environmental Health in Plant Engineering’s 2011 Product of the Year competition
The SCW Wash-down Curtain Wall is constructed of durable and cleanable, 18-oz white vinyl fabric and is designed for use in operations where compliance with federal food regulations is paramount. To eliminate the potential for bacteria to accumulate, the fabric curtain is manufactured without stitched seams. No Velcro is used to connect the curtain wall panels.
All components and fasteners used to suspend the SCW Wash-down Curtain Wall are made of stainless steel. Additionally, it holds up to wet and harsh conditions that occur when production equipment is cleaned as part of HACCP best practices.

Annual Salary Survey
After almost a decade of uncertainty, the confidence of plant floor managers is soaring. Even with a number of challenges and while implementing new technologies, there is a renewed sense of optimism among plant managers about their business and their future.
The respondents to the 2014 Plant Engineering Salary Survey come from throughout the U.S. and serve a variety of industries, but they are uniform in their optimism about manufacturing. This year’s survey found 79% consider manufacturing a secure career. That’s up from 75% in 2013 and significantly higher than the 63% figure when Plant Engineering first started asking that question a decade ago.
