POY Finalist: Containment bag
Finalist in Maintenance Tools and Equipment in Plant Engineering’s 2011 Product of the Year competition
The PIG Drum Containment Bag provides secondary containment and an easy way to hoist containers on and off a truck for convenient field-to-shop mobility. This product is UN-rated for solid hazardous materials shipments and helps facilities comply with shipping and storage regulations.
The bag features 6,000-lb capacity lifting straps—strong enough to support a fully loaded 55-gal drum—and can be easily loaded and unloaded using only a truck hoist. Its puncture-resistant, PVC-coated shell clips shut to keep rainwater out, and an abrasion-resistant bottom provides toughness for dragging purposes.

Annual Salary Survey
After almost a decade of uncertainty, the confidence of plant floor managers is soaring. Even with a number of challenges and while implementing new technologies, there is a renewed sense of optimism among plant managers about their business and their future.
The respondents to the 2014 Plant Engineering Salary Survey come from throughout the U.S. and serve a variety of industries, but they are uniform in their optimism about manufacturing. This year’s survey found 79% consider manufacturing a secure career. That’s up from 75% in 2013 and significantly higher than the 63% figure when Plant Engineering first started asking that question a decade ago.
