New motion controller and motion control library

Ingenia has introduced the Mercury motion controller and motion control library.


Barcelona – Ingenia has introduced the Mercury motion controller and motion control library, an advanced motion control system that can be controlled effectively by means of RS-232 or a CAN bus without foregoing any performance features or efficiency in motion control and management.

A motion controller, which incorporates software responsible for accurately and efficiently controlling and correcting the movement of an electric motor, may also include a power amplifier (commonly known as a driver) to create the necessary excitation for the motor. The Mercury motion controller includes the control and power amplifier needed to run brushed dc and brushless PMSM motors in one single physical device of reduced size (83 x 64 mm). The controller can be operated from RS-232 or CAN with Node-ID hardware. The wide range of voltages accepted by this device, as well as the capacity to deliver power of up to 1.1 kW, make it suitable for a wide of range of applications.

The Mercury motion controller can be configured and operated through its registers. To do this, it is necessary to establish a communication channel with the controller and to activate the desired registers. To free developers from these tasks, Ingenia has developed Motion Control Library (MCLib). MCLib brings together a series of functions and components that provide an application programming interface (API) in C/C++ for Ingenia motion controllers. It includes functions for communication management with the motion controller and for its configuration and operation.

MCLib is accompanied by CAN communication libraries for the main manufacturers of these devices, as well as libraries for RS-232 communication based on WINAPI.

Ingenia-CAT is specialized in the design and development of electric motion control products for the advanced robotics market and industrial automation market.

Annual Salary Survey

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September.
