NAM drops National Manufacturing Week sponsorship

With the recent sale of National Manufacturing Week, the National Association of Manufacturers announced this week it would no longer be the lead sponsor of the show, which has been moved to September for 2007.

“It was to our advantage to be involved with a trade show like that,” said Hank Cox, vice president, media relations for NAM. “It helped to bring more visitors to our members’ exhibits.”

The show, owned by Reed Exhibitions and sponsored by NAM for the last 15 years, was sold in July to Los Angeles-based Canon Communications. The contract NAM had with Reed, which provided its members discounted rates for exhibition space, was not part of the purchase agreement.

“We’re not happy about it,” Cox said. “We regret that and hope to find other venues to interact with our membership.”
