MÖBIUS plus SCC: Partnership for multi-echelon inventory solution will benefit from European SCM expertise

Supply Chain Consultants , supplier of the Zemeter suite of supply chain management (SCM) software products, announces a partnership with MÖBIUS for joint design of a sophisticated multi-echelon inventory software solution. The two companies intend to combine the in-depth supply chain knowledge of MÖBIUS with the product development and marketing expertise of Supply Chain Consultants (SCC) to sell the new product in both North America and Europe.
Target users for the joint product include any companies with a make-to-stock environment that have different inventory locations to manage—aiming for either customer service improvements or a reduction in working capital. A multi-echelon inventory solution also helps companies deliver more customized and up-to-date products to widely dispersed warehouse and distribution facilities, whether throughout the country or on the other side of the globe.
MÖBIUS has seen success with 20 percent to 30 percent extra working capital savings in companies that have implemented its multi-echelon inventory concept. The partnership between SCC and Mobius will extend that success to other manufacturers with a make-to-stock environment with different inventorylocations to manage, aiming for either customer service improvements or a reduction in working capital.
“We are convinced of the added value of the multi-echelon inventory concept that we have developed through the years and have been implementing with success at companies such as Daikin and Agfa Gevaert,” says Danny Boeykens, a MÖBIUS partner. “We are pleased to see our knowledge productized by Supply Chain Consultants to enable them to build a world-class multi-echelon inventory tool. With their years of experience in software development—as well as marketing and implementing supply chain software solutions—SCC brings the necessary skills to productize what is already a very successful consulting tool.”
Using Zemeter technology as a base, SCC will take the predictive mathematical model developed by MÖBIUS and turn it into a robust commercial product offering. According to Sujit Singh, chief operating officer, SCC, “Part of the reason we find this partnership attractive is because we know the product we are developing solves a real-world need. Some of our manufacturing customers have facilities all over the world, and they are constantly faced with the decisions of where it makes the best business and logistical sense to position inventory.”
SCC is working toward a product launch date of sometime in the second quarter of 2009.
