Metrology company is acquired; programming appreciated
Renishaw has purchased Advanced Consulting & Engineering Inc. (ACE), a U.S.-based supplier of dimensional measurement products and services in an attempt to enhance its programming capabilities.
Renishaw has purchased Advanced Consulting & Engineering, Inc. (ACE), a U.S.-based supplier of dimensional measurement products and services focused on the automotive industry.
The acquisition of family-owned ACE, based in Rochester Hills, Mich., is intended to provide Renishaw with further specialized programming capabilities using leading industry packages. It is also intended to support Renishaw’s sales of co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) probing systems and Equator gauges in the USA.
ACE has provided a range of in-house and on-site measurement services including contract inspection, CMM fixture design, machine retrofits, CMM programming, training and full turnkey solutions from concept to completion. ACE has A2LA lab accreditation.

Annual Salary Survey
After almost a decade of uncertainty, the confidence of plant floor managers is soaring. Even with a number of challenges and while implementing new technologies, there is a renewed sense of optimism among plant managers about their business and their future.
The respondents to the 2014 Plant Engineering Salary Survey come from throughout the U.S. and serve a variety of industries, but they are uniform in their optimism about manufacturing. This year’s survey found 79% consider manufacturing a secure career. That’s up from 75% in 2013 and significantly higher than the 63% figure when Plant Engineering first started asking that question a decade ago.
