Long-range wireless transmitters for process measurements
Omega Engineering UWXL Series industrial wireless transmitters offer flexibility for process measurement applications. Capable of ranges to 450 m (1,500 ft) line of sight (LOS), the UWXL transmitters are designed for a variety of applications, including temperature, infrared temperature, relative humidity, process transducers with standard voltage or current outputs, flow (pulsed frequency), and pH.
Thermocouple models are user configurable for nine calibrations; RTD units are compatible with 0.00385 and 0.00392 curve Pt100 sensors. The transmitters can transmit data at intervals configurable from once every 2 seconds to every 2 minutes. Transmitted data includes the process measurement, ambient temperature, RF signal strength, and battery condition. Software provided can display information in real time, allowing PC use as a multi-channel meter, recorder or data logger; data can also be exported to a standard spreadsheet file. UWXL transmitters are compatible with a wide variety of Omega wireless receivers.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
