Integrated systems for energy: Automation helps with production of windmills, oil, gas

More windmill towers at lower cost and more efficient oil and gas production will result from recent system integration of motion, drives, and automation upgrades by TMEIC GE and Honeywell Process Solutions.

Roanoke, VA and Phoenix, AZ –  Energy gets more efficient in two projects underway. More windmill towers at lower cost and more efficient oil and gas production will result from recent system integration of motion, drives, and automation upgrades by Honeywell Process Solutions TMEIC GE .

TMEIC GE awards ArcelorMittal drive and control upgrade project in Spain
TMEIC GE ArcelorMittal , headquartered in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, to upgrade existing main and auxiliary drives, and automation system at ArcelorMittal plate rolling facility in Gijon, Spain. The multi-million dollar project will allow ArcelorMittal to increase the throughput of the single-stand plate mill and produce more of the advanced alloy plate products that are used to manufacture windmill towers.
TMEIC GE says itnew control system, according to TMEIC GE.
The new upgrade project is scheduled for completion by late 2009. TMEIC GE says it will provide total system design and comprehensive site services including installation guidance, drives commissioning, automation system verification and system acceptance testing.
TMEIC GE is a joint venture between TMEIC (a joint venture between Toshiba & Mitsubishi Electric) and General Electric in the industrial drive systems business. TMEIC employs 2,200 people around the world and has annual sales in excess of $2 billion.
ArcelorMittal says it is the world’s largest steel producing company, with over 300,000 employees in more than 60 countries. ArcelorMittal has capacity in excess of 116 million tonnes per year, with annual revenue of over $105 billion. The company was created in 2006 by the merger of Arcelor and Mittal Steel.
Process control upgrades for oil and gas expansion project in Kuwait
Honeywell Process Solutions was selected by Korea-based SK Engineering and Construction (SKE&C) to design the integrated process control system for a major oil and gas expansion project in Kuwait. Project report: Oil & gas project calls for seamless integration of third-party technologies .

2012 Salary Survey

In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.

Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
