Don Frey , the senior vice president and co-founder of the Boulder, Colo.-based Architectural Energy Corp. was honored with the Benner Award at the 17th annual National Conference on Building Commissioning . The award is given to award to an individual or organization that has engaged in educational or demonstration activities, policy initiatives, or endeavors that successfully promote building commissioning.
Orlando, Fla.-based Mechanical Services (MSI) will be upgrading the HVAC and air handling systems at the Fine Arts Center on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. MSI will be replacing the existing HVAC systems with new, energy-efficient chilled water air handlers and fan coils in the 11,000 sq ft Fine Arts Center. The project will be completed by August, in time for Rollins' fall semester.

Annual Salary Survey
After almost a decade of uncertainty, the confidence of plant floor managers is soaring. Even with a number of challenges and while implementing new technologies, there is a renewed sense of optimism among plant managers about their business and their future.
The respondents to the 2014 Plant Engineering Salary Survey come from throughout the U.S. and serve a variety of industries, but they are uniform in their optimism about manufacturing. This year’s survey found 79% consider manufacturing a secure career. That’s up from 75% in 2013 and significantly higher than the 63% figure when Plant Engineering first started asking that question a decade ago.
