The Powerfoil X2.0 industrial fan is from Big Ass Fans.
The Powerfoil X2.0 industrial fan introduces an airfoil system—a system that combines patented airfoils and winglets with patent-pending AirFence technology to increase overall coverage by 28%. The winglet improves airfoil effectiveness by eliminating efficiency-robbing turbulence at the tip, while the AirFence captures air that would otherwise slip off the end of the airfoil. Certain features of the original Powerfoil X remain, including the time-tested Nitroseal Drive gearbox for durability and protection. This gearbox features <11 arc minutes backlash HeliCamber gear technology, SKF tapered roller bearings, a 2.5-in. hollow output shaft, Simrit double-lipped output seals, and lifetime synthetic oil. It is available in sizes of 8 to 24 ft.

Annual Salary Survey
After almost a decade of uncertainty, the confidence of plant floor managers is soaring. Even with a number of challenges and while implementing new technologies, there is a renewed sense of optimism among plant managers about their business and their future.
The respondents to the 2014 Plant Engineering Salary Survey come from throughout the U.S. and serve a variety of industries, but they are uniform in their optimism about manufacturing. This year’s survey found 79% consider manufacturing a secure career. That’s up from 75% in 2013 and significantly higher than the 63% figure when Plant Engineering first started asking that question a decade ago.
