Contemporary Controls’ Virtual Industrial Ethernet University (IEU) graduate level courses: With the increasing migration of Ethernet to the plant floor and in building-automation systems, comes the realization that knowledge is essential. Because of the rapid changes in this technology, individual engineers need to learn more than basic Ethernet principles. Contemporary Controls’ IEU now offers its first graduate level course entitled Object Modeling a Physical BACnet Device. The course introduces object modeling, object properties, and services as they pertain to a physical BACnet/IP device. Although the majority of BACnet devices support the master-slave/token-passing (MS/TP) network, newer devices now function over Ethernet. Nearly 2,900 students are enrolled in IEU, studying all or some of the 20 courses as they relate to installations on machines and in factories. Students take tests to verify comprehension, and all material is based on the IEEE Std. 802.3 and relevant Request for Comments (RFCs). The information is vendor-neutral. There’s no cost.

Digi launches first Flexible Ethernet Networking Module:

ConnectCore 9P 9215, the industry's most flexible ARM9-based Ethernet networking module has two Flexible Interface Modules(FIMs) built into

Digi

's new ARM9 microprocessor. It allows customers to load and use application-specific interfaces, such as Secure Digital, Controller Area Network (CAN), 1-Wire, additional UARTs and others, matching application needs. Adding interfaces in the FIMs reduces complexity and overall product cost by minimizing the number of components necessary for a design, Digi says.etwork communications. On-chip AES encryption engine provides 10 times the secure data throughput of comparable software-based solutions. ConnectCore 9P 9215 Digi JumpStart Kit is available.

Industrial Control Communications Inc. announces the release of the FR-A7N-ETH multiprotocol Ethernet interface for Mitsubishi 700-series inverters. Also offered is the ASD-G9ETH Multiprotocol Ethernet Interface for Toshiba VF-AS1 and G9 adjustable speed drives.

Lumberg Automation : Industrial Ethernet Interfaces, Adaptor Receptacles: Modules provide seamless IP68 connection from outside the control panel to the device and from inside the control panel to an Ethernet Switch. EtherNet/IP 4-Port Interface Module mounts directly on the side of a control cabinet, and provides up to 4 Micro (M12) D-Coded connections (outside) to four RJ-45 connections (inside). Ethernet Panel Mount Receptacles mounts on a control panel providing ease of connection for 1 Micro (M12) D-Coded connection (outside) to 1 RJ-45 connection (inside) and Panel Mount Receptacle, RJ-45 Jack to RJ-45 Jack with Bayonet Lock on exterior.

Moxa offers , explaining how Active Ethernet I/O is being used successfully in different applications, industry sectors, and countries.

Wago Corp. has a . It is a pluggable RJ-45 connector said to substantially decreases time needed for Ethernet wiring. Unlike traditional Ethernet connectors, the 750-975 features insulation displacement contact that provides tool-free, in-the-field conductor wiring:

Annual Salary Survey

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September. There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.

But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
