The Plant Engineering Cost Index (PECI) remained virtually unchanged, with only 0.1% increase from March to April. The price index reveals that plant engineering costs are well under control, hovering around the 149 mark since October 1997. This April, prices were just 1.9% higher than in April 1997. Some of the components with noteworthy changes include lubricants, which rose 1.7% in April, and paint which spattered up 0.9%.
