former GE Fanuc CNC parts and systems business into Fanuc America Corp., Fanuc CNC America is the largest CNC sales, service and support organization in the Americas, the company said in a Feb. 11 statement.

On January 1, 2010, officials of Fanuc Ltd. announced the startof operations of Fanuc CNC America (formerly FANUC America).

"By combining the strengths of both organizations we provide a stronger, more unified face to customers, whether they are end users, machine tool builders, distributors or systems integrators across all major industries. Fanuc says that Fanuc CNC America, headquartered in Hoffman Estates, IL, combines capabilities of GE Fanuc and Fanuc America, providing CNC control systems sales and support, engineering and technical service, on-site engineering and automation services, genuine Fanuc parts sales and repair services, and hotline technical support. Annual Salary Survey

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September. There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.

But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
