Embedded System Conference offers design solutions to engineers in Silicon Valley

ESC will feature solutions to design challenges, information, and current technology across a wide array of areas relevant to design of embedded systems.

The Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) will be in San Jose, CA, from May 2-5, 2011. The conference features solutions to design challenges, new technologies, and informational tracks designed to keep skills up to date within the realm of embedded systems. Free hands-on training will happen live during the ESC expo will feature hands-on training courses with hot technologies lead by well known companies and speakers. ESC also features events in Chicago, IL and Boston, MA.

ESC Silicon Valley will feature a keynotes from Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Computer, Inc. and Chief Scientist at Fusion-io; Dan O’Dowd, President and Chief Executive Officer of Green Hills Software; Jeri Ellsworth, American Entrepreneur and self-taught Computer Chip Designer.

The Embedded Connectivity Zone, on the ESC Silicon Valley show floor, is an opportunity for companies to demonstrate their solutions that will educate and help design engineers design better connected devices. ESC theater panel discussions will address key challenges that the design engineers face and complement the demonstrations at pods in the pavilion.

To help meet the needs of designers, designated a "Board Zone" at ESC Silicon Valley. In addition to seeing all the products and technologies that help embedded developers incorporate this necessary subsystem, this is a place where the experts will convene to help get toughest display-related questions answered.

Various tracks include: Architecture Design; Challenges and Solutions in Embedded Designs; Connectivity and Security; Debugging and Optimizing; HMI and Multimedia; Linux, Android, and Open Source; Managing and Process; Memory, Microcontrollers, and Programmable Logic in Embedded Design; Quality Design and Intellectual Property; Remote Monitoring and Wireless Networking; RTOS and Real Time Software; Safety Design; Systems Architecture; and Windows for Embedded Systems.

ESC Silicon Valley is co-locating with the Multicore Expo to provide more quality content and opportunities.

Multicore Expo

The 6th annual Multicore Expo will take place in combination with the ESC event. The Multicore Expo Zone will consist of a wide variety of exhibits from leaders in the multicore industry, providing attendees with the opportunity to see multicore technology in action as well as network with leading experts in multicore hardware and software implementations. The pavilion will also contain a theatre, open to all attendees, where sponsors will deliver presentations that highlight specific multicore technologies.

2012 Salary Survey

In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.

Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
