Detroit Lakes Students finish first at Minnesota North Star Robotics competition
Detroit Lakes’ QWERTY Robotics recently took first place in the Minnesota North Star Regional FIRST Robotics competition.

SJE-Rhombus, S J Electro Systems foundation, along with BTD Manufacturing Inc., JCPenney and NASA as corporate sponsors are proud to support the Detroit Lakes Minnesota high school QWERTY Robotics who recently took first place in the Minnesota North Star Regional FIRST Robotics competition. QWERTY Robotics consists of 11 students and seven mentors, two of which are from SJE-Rhombus (Sam Esser and Tom Bergh) and Debbie Janzen the QWERTY Robotics Team Advisor.
QWERTY Robotics was formed in September, 2009, and has built, programmed and operated three robots to compete in NDSU Bison BEST Robotics competitions held in Fargo, ND and the MN FIRST Robotics competition in March, 2010 and 2011. These competitions created learning experiences for students in; team work, time management, production, design, and programming.
QWERTY Robotics advances to the FIRST Robotics National competition along with teams from across the USA and countries around the world. This competition is expected to draw over 10,000 spectators to St. Louis, MO April 27-30th.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
