Deadline is Friday for 2009 Product of the Year, Top Plant applications

Innovation in manufacturing to be recognized in award programs

By Plant Engineering Staff April 13, 2009
Is your company launching a product this year that’s going to change the landscape in the industry? Is your plant a leader in innovation and best practices? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then you should enter this year’s editions of Plant Engineering’s annual awards of excellence, the 2009 Product of the Year and Top Plant awards. Applications for each are now available online.

The Product of the Year is the industry’s most prestigious award for innovation in manufacturing products. A panel of industry experts juries all product nominations, selecting the finalists for each of the 18 product categories. Plant Engineering readers then take over, voting online to select the gold, silver and bronze winners in each category. The winners will be honored at a gala dinner held during Plant Engineering’s 2010 Manufacturing Summit, with the product receiving the most votes named the Grand Award winner. The 2008 Grand Award winner was Orion Energy Systems, with its Apollo light pipe skylight system.

The Top Plant award honors outstanding manufacturing facilities in the U.S. Plant Engineering’s editors will review each application to determine the finalists. A plant visit with each finalist will follow, with the winners announced in the December issue of Plant Engineering. The winners will also be honored during the 2010 Manufacturing Summit. Quality Float Works, Schaumburg, IL, and Square D, Columbia, MO, shared Top Plant honors in 2008.

The entry deadline for Product of the Year is 5 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 11, and finalists will be featured in the November issue of Plant Engineering, with voting to follow. Top Plant entries are due at 5 p.m. CT on Monday, Sept. 7.
