Call goes out for speakers at NMW conference program
A call for speakers has been issued for the conference program at National Manufacturing Week by new owner Canon Communications. Co-located with sister shows Assembly Technology Expo, Electronics Assembly Show and Quality Expo at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, Sept. 24-27, 2007, NMW and its conference program will bring together solutions for design, enterprise IT, plant management, quality, assembly and automation. Industries served range from automotive and aerospace to fabricated metals to medical devices and telecommunications, among others.
Presentations can be made in the form of a 50-minute paper, or as panel discussions or half-day workshops. Deadline for submission is Feb. 1. Visit www.canonshows.com for more information.

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.
There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September. There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.
But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
