Problem: One of the tricks used for unauthorized entry is to remove the hinge pins from a door. How can this be prevented without welding the pins in place or installing special hinges?

Solution: Drill a hole in one side of each hinge, and place a 3/4-in. long pin or screw on the opposing side of the hinge. The hinge functions normally, but the door cannot be slid out of the door jamb while in the closed position.
