Air curtain test standards approved

ANSI and AMCA have approved the document, "Laboratory Methods of Testing Air Curtain Units for Aerodynamic Performance Rating," for use.

04/20/2012

The Air Movement and Control Association International Inc. (AMCA International) has announced that the Board of Standards Review of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved the ANSI/AMCA Standard 220-05(R2012) document, “Laboratory Methods of Testing Air Curtain Units for Aerodynamic Performance Rating.” This standard covers the performance testing of air curtain units.

This standard may be used to establish uniform methods for laboratory testing of air curtain units to determine aerodynamic performance in terms of air flow rate, outlet air velocity uniformity, power consumption and air velocity projection, for rating or guarantee purposes and are not intended to specify the testing procedures to be used for design, production, or field testing.

AMCA International is accredited by ANSI as a standards developer using the “canvass” method. The canvass method provides and promotes a process that verifies the principles of openness have been followed in the approval procedure.  It also ensures that a consensus of those individuals who are directly and materially affected by the standard(s) has been achieved.
