They increase your productivity on the job, maximize your efficiency and make your life less stressful. This month, we present the 150 products that have made an impact on the way you work — the finalists in our 18th annual “Product of the Year” contest.

To be a candidate for this competition, the product must have been available for purchase between October 1, 2004, and September 30, 2005; be new to the world market; and be useful in the plant engineering function.

The PLANT ENGINEERING “Product of the Year” Award is a well-recognized, well-respected honor that has been bestowed upon more than 700 products in the last 18 years.

You determine the winners

Our panel of experts has narrowed the entries to 150 finalists. Now the contest relies solely on your input — your vote. The ballot next to page 94 will guide you through the voting process. Simply write in the vote number for the product you think is the best in each of our 16 categories.

The votes in each category will be tallied to determine Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. The product that receives the highest number of votes overall will be our Grand Award winner. Awards will be presented at a black-tie reception during the 2006 National Plant Engineering Show (March 20—23, 2006 Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL; www.manufacturingweek.com ).
