PLC: Switches, Circuits, and Basic Functions--Communications
Part 10 of the Switches, Circuits, and Basic Functions Series describes communications between computer programming and programming logic controllers.
Most people use computers to program the PLC even though some still use what we call handheld programmers.
The communications from the computer are usually done in one of three methods: Serial – USB – Ethernet
Serial straight forward but going away fast
USB more common today but pitfalls
Show Device Manager Setup to set comm. Port
Ethernet for very high speed communications, which we will be covering under a different video.
Main point of this video is the serial and USB and the USB pitfalls
