Ashley Furniture looks to restart expansion in region

12/14/2010

FurnitureToday.com is reporting that the nation’s largest furniture manufacturer is looking to expand its manufacturing facilities in what was oncee the hotbed of American furniture manufacturing.

Ashley Furniture is looking to open a mid-Atlantic manufacturing and distribution center to go along with existing sites in Wisconsin, Mississippi, Florida, California and Pennsylvania. Ashley chairman Ron Wanek told the Website he was “optimistic that the economy is getting better,” and the facility would restart a process the company began five years ago for a mid-Atlantic location. One site mentioned was in Appomattox, VA, but Wanek did not discuss a specific site.
