Single loop controller qualified for nuclear service

Yokogawa YS1700 Single Loop Controller is now qualified to be used in nuclear applications, non-safety seismic, and safety seismic applications, including nuclear safety. It is also used in industries such as power, petrochemical, water, pulp/paper, marine and municipal boilers.

The YS1700 Single Loop Controller by Yokogawa is now qualified to be used in nuclear applications including water control, temperature control, level and pressure applications. Courtesy: YokogawaYokogawa's Single Loop Controller, the YS1700, also has been qualified for non-safety seismic and safety seismic applications, including nuclear safety, and is also used in industries such as power, petrochemical, water, pulp/paper, marine and municipal boilers. The nuclear safety and seismic application qualification was based on EPRI TR-107330 under and audited quality management program meeting the requirement of 10CFR50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and 10CFR21.

Control applications in nuclear facilities are numerous, and the YS1700 is applicable to many of them including; feed water control, feed water heater, heater drain control, heat exchanger temperature control and many other flow, level and pressure applications.

The YS1700 features include dual CPUs with automatic fail over, which provides display and manual control capability if an abnormality occurs in one of the CPUs. Other features include a hard manual backup, battery free memory backup, and backwards compatibility with all previous YS control products.

2012 Salary Survey

In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.

Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
