Proud of a control panel you designed or built?

Control Engineering Control Panel Design Contest is accepting entries through noon March 31, 2011.

Control Panel Video ContestMachine builders: Do you build control panels or work with a panel builder? Panel builders: Want to show your expertise? End-users are you proud of a control panel you designed or built? Do others regularly ask you for control panel help?

If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, please consider sharing expertise with others through the Control Engineering Control Panel Design Contest. Submit a tutorial video, 5-minute or less in length, to Control Engineering by noon on March 31, 2011, following the official rules.  

Everything you need to know is linked to the Control Panel Design Contest page,  including recommendations and guidelines, last year’s finalists and winner, and the official rules. All finalists will remain linked to the page, get mentioned in May monthly edition of Control Engineering, and be open for viewing and voting April 4 – June 14.

Control Panel Video Contest - enter now!After voting, finalists will remain linked to the Control Panel Design Contest and in the Control Engineering video library, until at least next year (likely longer). The winner will be highlighted in greater detailed in a future monthly edition of Control Engineering.

Have a good idea for a tutorial video on another topic? We're also accepting non-commercial tutorial videos on other automation, controls, and instrumentation subjects. Follow the specifications provided for the control panel tutorial video (except for the deadlines and topic, of course). Accepted videos will be made available in the Control Engineering video library at www.controleng.com/videos.

2012 Salary Survey

In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.

Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
