POY Finalist: Vertical leveler dock door
Finalist in Material Handling Systems in Plant Engineering’s 2011 Product of the Year competition
The VertiCool door was specifically designed for use with vertical storing dock levelers. The VertiCool features a 4-in.-thick R-23 insulated panel that mirrors the insulated wall panel for superior thermal protection in 48-in. panel heights, reducing the number of panel joints by 50%—which allows for easy cleaning and better energy efficiency.
Dual-compression side seals are mounted to the door panel to prevent damage and maintain effectiveness outside, while a closed-cell foam interior prevents moisture accumulation and additional door damage inside.

Annual Salary Survey
After almost a decade of uncertainty, the confidence of plant floor managers is soaring. Even with a number of challenges and while implementing new technologies, there is a renewed sense of optimism among plant managers about their business and their future.
The respondents to the 2014 Plant Engineering Salary Survey come from throughout the U.S. and serve a variety of industries, but they are uniform in their optimism about manufacturing. This year’s survey found 79% consider manufacturing a secure career. That’s up from 75% in 2013 and significantly higher than the 63% figure when Plant Engineering first started asking that question a decade ago.
