Maximize manufacturing efficiency with a wireless AndOn to monitor overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), hear MP3 audio, and see real-time and historical data acquisition in one, simple, preprogrammed package. AndOnMobile released a line of lean tools and mobile human-machine interface (HMI) products, targeting the continuous manufacturing market. The system features the latest Allen-Bradley, 32-bit Control/Compact Logix PLC platform from Rockwell Automation. AndOnMobile’s unique version of Power Over EtherNet/IP eliminates the cost of wiring, conduit, and electrical contractors.
The operator interface can be any Apple iOS devices, iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, allowing operators to be totally mobile. The AndOnMobile application was developed to communicate directly with any Allen-Bradley PLC with EtherNet/IP connectivity. A wired HMI is also available using devices, such as an Allen-Bradley PanelView + Color Touch Screen from Rockwell Automation. The app permits the sending of alarms and messages to any Apple device in real time. Either form of HMI (wireless or wired) gives the operators the ability to enter reason codes for AndOn and downtime and know why the production line stopped.
Real Time Dashboards are available at 720-pixel resolution on any flat panel screen at a fraction of the cost of traditional scrolling displays. All PLC data can be displayed on the flat panel monitor. AndOnMobile View Units include a built in Web server allowing review of data from any Internet browser. Data is logged into a .csv file for historical reports, which can be formatted and sent directly to a sequel server.
The AndOn Lean Tools consist of 22 mm, 30 mm wired or wireless pushbuttons/key fobs. The stack lights or high-intensity strobe lights are all POE/IP and can be mounted up to 1000 ft from the work station by simply connecting a Cat6E cable.
The Mobile HMI provides real-time trending and offers an instant view of your manufacturing process metrics and OEE from anywhere there is Wi-Fi connectivity. Consider the cost of a traditional wired HMI, then consider the cost of an iPad3. The future is now, more productivity and less downtime.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
