Motion Control - servo drives - GE Intelligent Platforms PACMotion GE Intelligent Platforms motion controller can control up to 40 axes of synchronized motion at extremely fast loop rates. This is a Control Engineering 2011 Engineers' Choice (EC) nominee.
PACMotion is designed to control up to 40 axes of synchronized motion all at the exact same servo update loop rate of 1ms independent of the number of motion axes. With this announcement, GE is making PACMotion the motion controller of choice in a host of new areas, including packaging, material handling, and automated assembly.
By enabling connectivity to a wider variety of off-the-shelf devices, users will find PACMotion available to serve many more applications, which can lead to lower system cost.

2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
