SMEU.S. manufacturing continues to be on the move, not only toward recovery, but right into expansion. According to a new report in IndustryWeek, 89% of manufacturers surveyed expect positive revenue growth for the remainder of 2011. Growth, new products and technologies are the focus of the 11,000 manufacturers expected to attend EASTEC 2011. EASTEC 2011, the largest annual manufacturing event on the East Coast, according to show organizers, will take place May 17–19 at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds in West Springfield, Mass. The event is centered on Design, Engineering, and Rapid Technologies; Tooling, Workholding and Machining Accessories; Automation, Quality, and Process Improvement; Plant, Energy, and Environmental Efficiency; and Precision Manufacturing Equipment and Systems.

“EASTEC is known as the place to find new products,” said Kimberly Farrugia, senior show manager for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the organizer of EASTEC 2011. “Surveys show that attendees are looking for the technologies and expertise needed to manufacture innovative products for new growth markets.”

James Cepican, general manager at Citizen Machinery America Inc., said he'll introduce two new machine tools at the event: the Citizen L20 X, a multi axis high precision Swiss Style Lathe, and the Miyano BNA42-DHY, a high precision multi axis turning center. These will help “illustrate how Citizen Machinery America supports New England manufacturing,” he said.

Mastercam will launch new products at the show, including its new Swiss manufacturing product. “It’s called Mastercam Swiss Expert,” noted Graham Hargreaves, marketing coordinator at CNC Software, Inc., the maker of Mastercam. “That’s opening up a whole new market for us.” According to Hargreaves, CNC Software recently acquired the well-respected Swiss machining software SylvieXpert. CNC Software refined and adapted it, making the new software ready for preview at EASTEC 2011. The company also will spotlight the newly released Mastercam X5.
