Data acquisition modules for harsh conditions

HBM's SomatXR Data Acquisition System series has added three modules—the SomatXR MX1615B-R, the SomatXR MX1601B-R, and the SomatXR MX1609KB-R—to function in harsh operating conditions and manage test data for machine and mining applications.

HBM’s SomatXR Data Acquisition System series has added three modules—the SomatXR MX1615B-R, the SomatXR MX1601B-R, and the SomatXR MX1609KB-R—which are designed to operate in harsh conditions.

The SomatXR MX1615B-R Amplifier has 16 individually configurable inputs for potentiometric sensors, PT 100 temperature sensors, or strain gages (SG) in full-, half-, or quarter-bridge configurations. In addition, it can measure resistance and voltage up to ± 60 V.

The SomatXR MX1601B-R Amplifier provides inputs for measuring standardized voltage (± 60 V), standardized current (0 -20 mA or 4 – 20 mA), and IEPE/ICP sensors on 16 individually configurable channels. Every channel is electrically isolated and has a 24-bit delta-sigma A/D converter.

The SomatXR MX1609KB-R Amplifier provides 16 individually configurable thermocouple channels with full isolation.

The amplifier modules are suitable for measurements under very harsh operating conditions. They can be used to test the durability of construction, agricultural, and mining machines as well as automobiles. All three have an IP65 / IP67 rating and an extended operating temperature range of -40 to +80 C. They meet MIL-STD202G requirements for shock and vibration, and can withstand shocks up to 70 g and vibration of at least 10 g.

To manage test data, the SomatXR data acquisition mainframe can perform a broad range of on-board data processing, including custom computed channels, triggers, gates, Boolean expressions and SoMat DataModes. The built–in solid state hard drive and support for USB mass storage gives the SomatXR large amounts of data storage for almost any amount of number crunching. The SomatXR mainframe is completely self-contained and runs autonomously.
