Five Fast Things for April 10, 2007
April 9, 2007
1. Reaching the Summit: Plant Engineering's first Manufacturing Summit got rave reviews from attendees and presenters. For those of you who missed it, we'll do it again next year. But we'll have content in the May issue of the magazine and here on line so you can learn now what everyone who attended the Summit already knows.
2. People such as... There was this comment from
Delitha Morrow Coles of Kimberly Clark, which received a
2006 Product of the Year award: "
Please allow me to take this time to thank you and the team for the incredible awards dinner and Manufacturing Summit you staged last week in Chicago. It was truly an honor for me to attend and accept the Product of the Year award on behalf of our entire Kimberly-Clark Professional team. I also found it quite valuable to learn more about safety issues from an end-user’s perspective during dinner, and it was great to sit at the table with so many of my peers."
3. Safety video news: Keller Online is sharing its weekly video safety news update with Plant Engineering readers. This will give you in video form a five minute update on safety issues. It's worth a quick view.
4. Matrikon Summit: It seems everyone this year has a Summit. Matrikon, for example, will have its event May 7-10 in Chicago. Among the announcements there will be its work with ISA on the upcoming ISA-SP18.02 standard addressing the development, installation, and management of alarm systems in the process industries. "ISA has a long history with alarm system standards, with work dating back to the 1960's," said ISA-SP18 committee chair Nick Sands of DuPont. "When we began work on a new standard for alarm system management in 2003, Matrikon was a key contributor. Since that time, the Matrikon participants have shared their knowledge and experience, and worked alongside other companies to draft a practical standard that will better structure companies' approaches to alarm management."
