Victaulic Podcast covers workforce development

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 6/15/2007

CompressedSchedule.com, an industry portal sponsored by Victaulic Company, has launched a Podcast series featuring industry experts who will address maintenance topics. The current edition of the newly enhanced site addresses the skilled labor shortage that the industry is facing.

Registrants to CompressedSchedule.com will hear two speakers from the National Association of Manufacturers: Stacey Wagner, director of workforce success, and Heath Weems, the director of education and workforce policy. They discuss the workforce shortage and skills gap and recommend different methods for the industry to take action.

A second Podcast with Midwest Mechanical Contractors president Michael Kotubey and Victaulic regional sales manager Steve Morehead focuses on ways companies can find additional workers and what Midwest Mechanical is doing to retain their employees.

In addition to the Podcasts, the site will provide audience members across the globe with useful articles for meeting deadlines on compressed construction project schedules. Featuring content from principal industry trade publications and input from expert sources, the website is a compilation of valuable information on a range of timely topics that are critical to industry professionals today.

With links to articles from top publications including PLANT ENGINEERING magazine, as well as a Tips and Best Practices section, the site is full of useful strategies for tackling the labor shortage and working to alleviate the problem.

A series of six editions will run through the remainder of 2007, covering topics such as scheduling, Green building and safety.
