PLANT ENGINEERING to present study results at Maximo World event

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 6/15/2007

The results of PLANT ENGINEERING’ study, “The Changing Role of the Plant Engineer,” will be presented at Maximo World 2007, July 22-25 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel in Orlando. The study, co-sponsored by IBM, was sent to every PLANT ENGINEERING subscriber in May, and online readers can respond to the study by clicking on the button on the home page at www.PlantEngineering.com.

“This study will provide a look at how manufacturing really works from the people who do the work on the plant floor every day,” said Bob Vavra, editor of PLANT ENGINEERING. “We’re grateful for IBM’s support of this important research, which will provide useful insight for manufacturing leaders and policy makers on the way manufacturing has changed since 2003, when the study was last completed.”

The theme of the 21st annual Maximo World users conference is “Innovation That Matters.”

The event formally opens with a welcome reception on Sunday, July 22 at 6 p.m., but the International Connection Forum and a Roundtable discussion on mobile networking will both take place on July 22 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday’s keynote speaker is Kevin Carroll of Katalyst. Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force, was head athletic trainer for the Philadelphia 76ers and was a key executive at Nike. Today Carroll travels around the world promoting the importance of play in everyday life, whether at the office, at home or on the playground.

The Tuesday keynote is Air Force Capt. Scott O’Grady, who survived for six days in Iraq after his F-16 was shot down enforcing NATO’s no-fly zone. His book, Return With Honor, spent six weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. He has also published Basher Five-Two, a children’s edition of his original story.
