Website upgrades will feature a virtual plant resource guide

Staff -- Plant Engineering, 3/15/2007

When PlantEngineering.com upgrades its functionality on April 15, visitors will find new information and new ways to access all kinds of information for the plant floor.

“Website content has typically been text-driven,” said Plant Engineering editor Bob Vavra. “With the new functions built into our Website, however, visitors will be treated to audio and video clips as well as a deeper, more functional Website.”

One of the Website’s most useful functions has always been the archive of Plant Engineering articles. These articles will still be available, and the reach of the archive will extend to other Reed Business Information magazines, including Control Engineering and Manufacturing Business Technology.

The Talkback feature on the Website will also allow for interaction between plant engineers, allowing them to post questions and comments about stories they see on the Website or in the magazine and create a dialogue on topics of interest.

A new feature on the Website will be Zibb, Reed Business Information’s business-to-business search engine. Zibb brings together news, blogs, supplier information and other relevant content from across the web. Zibb organizes content into industry verticals, making sure your search is focused on just what you want in the manufacturing space.

Another addition is a link to BuyerZone, an online purchasing marketplace that attracts buyers seeking quotes in more than 125 product and service categories. Recently acquired by Reed Business Information, BuyerZone has facilitated more than $5 billion in purchasing transactions since 2004. It provides buyers with purchasing advice and provides suppliers with access to high-quality buyers seeking to make major purchases.

“Plant managers have a lot to do each day, and our research shows they do a lot of their work online,” Vavra said. “Whether they need to find a new product, a supplier or are looking for a solution, we want them to turn to www.plantengineering.com to find the answer.”
