Salary Survey: Web-exclusive data highlights regional trends

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 1/1/2007

Are certain parts of the country more confident about the future of manufacturing? Is the Rust Belt feeling less optimistic about the outlook for jobs in 2007?

The results of the 2006 Plant Engineering Salary Survey are available in this issue, but in a Web-exclusive look at the industry’s most comprehensive salary study, we detail how each region of the country views the issues that face many manufacturing today.

“Our exclusive Manufacturing Pulse study (page 24) shows there is, overall, a solid amount of confidence in the outlook for jobs and job growth in 2007,” said Plant Engineering editor Bob Vavra.

“We wanted to take a closer look at those numbers on a regional basis, however. We also wanted to compare those numbers to the results of our November Web poll on what manufacturers are looking for in the new year to remain competitive.

“We’ve come to some interesting conclusions, and we’ve made them available, with some exclusive charts and data, on our Website,” Vavra added.

“We will also ask readers online to share with us their specific concerns, and what kinds of data could be most helpful to them in the coming year. We’re working with our research staff to generate the kind of information readers need to stay 'ahead of the curve’ in 2007,” Vavra said.

The Web-exclusive data is available at www.plantengineering.com.
