Sensor actuator interfaces

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 1/1/2007

Full-featured active sensor actuator interfaces for industrial applications provide users with wiring flexibility to achieve modular and decentralized process control in automation applications. Available in robust and environmentally rated IP67 housings, each of the SAI’s support Profibus, DeviceNet and CANopen, as well as Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET and Modbus/TCP. The SAI’s use the same plug-in ports for either sensors or actuators, facilitating wiring flexibility by allowing users to create their own application-specific solutions. The user defines the inputs and the outputs without time-consuming configurations. SAI Active modules meet IP67 protection standards, making them suitable for use in harsh environments. The M12 connections and the SAI bus connection are available in a metal design. The compact plastic housings are made of Pocan, which is rated to flammability class UL 94 V0. The modules are UL, CSA and CE-approved and are Profibus-network-certified.
