Product of the Year balloting to be conducted electronically

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 10/1/2006

Beginning with the 2006 Product of the Year awards, PLANT ENGINEERING readers will be able to vote electronically for the first time.

The finalists for the 2006 awards will be announced in the November issue of PLANT ENGINEERING magazine. The 19th annual Product of the Year program brings together the top innovations in categories ranging from automation to maintenance and from motors to lighting.

“We've seen Product of the Year change and grow over the years,” said editor Bob Vavra, “and we've changed as our product offerings and innovations have changed. The change to electronic balloting will make it easier for every eligible PLANT ENGINEERING reader to vote this year.”

Those readers who are working professionals in a plant or manufacturing setting are eligible to vote, and only those readers will receive an email inviting them to vote for this year's Product of the Year winners. “We put in a lot of effort to ensure that this is a peer-judged competition, and so we work to make sure that working professionals are the ones who choose this year's best products,” Vavra said.

Balloting will begin November 15 and end on December 1, 2006. The single product in all categories with the highest vote total will receive the Grand Award, won last year by New Standards Institute.

Winners will be notified and the awards will be handed out at PLANT ENGINEERING's annual Product of the Year dinner, to be held at a location to be announced.
