High-temperature heaters
By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 10/1/2006
Ceramacast 646N is a high temperature ceramic potting compound that can be used for encapsulating and potting high-temperature, electrical resistance heaters used in consumer and industrial appliances to 3,000 F (1,650 C). It is supplied in powder form and, when mixed with water, sets hydraulically in 16 to 24 hours at room temperature. Pot life is 1 to 2 hours, and it typically fully hardens after setting at room temperature by step curing for 2 hours at 200 F and 250 F, respectively. Cured material demonstrates a shrinkage rate of less than 1%, a volume resistivity of 109 ohm/cm and dielectric strength of 250 volts/mil. Its compressive strength is 11,500 psi.
