Focus of October Webcasts is wireless, safety issues

By Staff -- Plant Engineering, 9/1/2006

Wireless applications and plant floor safety are two topics all plant managers deal with, and PLANT ENGINEERING editors will bring together industry experts to talk about both subjects in a pair of Webcasts scheduled for October.

“Advancements in Wireless Ethernet,” sponsored by Phoenix Contact will air on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. CDT. Senior editor Jack Smith and a panel of industry experts will discuss the advantages and challenges of applying wireless networking to your plant. The topic was covered in-depth in the July issue of PLANT ENGINEERING magazine. Readers can go to www.plantengineering.com to review all the recent knowledge about wireless posted at the Engineer’s Resource Guide (ERG) and register for the upcoming Webcast.

Safe manufacturers reduce worker’s compensation costs, improve productivity, maintain employee morale and act as a responsible employer. For those who don’t, the numbers are numbing: On-the-job injuries cost American companies $512 billion each year.

“Safety – Right To The Bottom Line” is the title of the Webcast on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. CDT, sponsored by UNICCO Service Company. In advance of the 94th National Safety Congress in San Diego Nov. 6-8, experts form the National Safety Council, OSHA and UNICCO will discuss such issues as:

  • Why safety matters to your workers – and to your CFO
  • How insurance companies work to make the workplace safer
  • The hidden workplace safety issue – off-the-job injuries

Registration for this Webcast can also be done by going to www.plantengineering.com and clicking on 'Webcast archive’ on the ERG page.
